CLEWISTON, FL — The community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 27-year-old Anthony Darnell Steele, who was tragically shot and killed on the afternoon of Saturday, July 5, 2025, in the 944 block of Kentucky Avenue.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Anthony Steele suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Hendry Regional Hospital, where, despite emergency medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, along with its detectives, has since identified a suspect and is actively working to locate the individual responsible for Anthony Steele’s death.
