Mesquite, Texas – A tragic accident unfolded on Tuesday evening in Mesquite, Texas, leaving two people dead and a third individual facing serious criminal charges. The fatal crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 80 and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to Mesquite police, the incident involved three vehicles: a black Audi SUV, a Toyota RAV4, and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Preliminary investigations indicate that the Audi SUV, driven by 33-year-old Kevin Jerome Jackson, collided with the Toyota and the motorcycle under circumstances suspected to be influenced by alcohol impairment.

The crash proved immediately fatal for the drivers of both the Toyota and the motorcycle. Authorities identified the victims as 64-year-old Mark Bryant, who was operating the Toyota RAV4, and 61-year-old Brian Robinson, who was riding the Harley-Davidson. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Police allege that Jackson was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter — a second-degree felony in the state of Texas, which carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison for each count. His bond has been set at $2 million.

The Mesquite Police Department’s crash investigation team continues to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the collision. Investigators are examining witness statements, traffic surveillance footage, and forensic evidence from the vehicles involved. Toxicology reports are pending.

“This is a heartbreaking loss of life, made even more tragic by the fact that it appears to have been entirely preventable,” said a spokesperson for the Mesquite Police Department. “Driving under the influence is not only illegal — it is deadly. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims as they begin to process this devastating event.”

Family and friends of the victims have begun mourning the loss of two lives cut short by what police describe as an act of reckless and impaired driving. Mark Bryant was described by neighbors as a kind and dependable family man who had recently retired. Brian Robinson was remembered by friends as a passionate motorcyclist and a generous soul who frequently volunteered in the community.

This crash is the latest in a series of DUI-related fatalities in North Texas, reigniting public concern about the dangers of impaired driving. Organizations advocating for road safety have reiterated calls for stricter enforcement and more public education on the consequences of driving under the influence.

Kevin Jerome Jackson is currently being held at the Mesquite City Jail. Court proceedings are expected to begin in the coming weeks, and if convicted, Jackson could face decades behind bars.

The investigation remains active, and Mesquite authorities urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact the Mesquite Police Department.
