Two Injured in Southwest Atlanta Shooting Outside Donnelly Food Store

ATLANTA, Ga. — A late-night shooting in southwest Atlanta has left two people injured and one in critical condition, according to the Atlanta Police Department. The incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night, outside the Donnelly Food Store, located at 1294 Donnelly Avenue SW.

Officers responding to the scene discovered a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities confirmed that both victims were alert, conscious, and breathing at the time they were transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. While the female victim’s condition remains stable, police report that one of the victims is currently in critical condition, though they did not clarify which individual that is.

Crime Scene Under Investigation

The area around the Donnelly Food Store was quickly secured by law enforcement as investigators combed through the scene, searching for evidence and interviewing witnesses in an effort to determine what led to the gunfire. Detectives are working to establish a motive and whether the shooting was targeted or the result of a confrontation that escalated.

No suspects have been publicly identified, and authorities have not indicated whether anyone is currently in custody. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed, and police are urging any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.

“At this point, the investigation is very much in the early stages,” said a spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department. “We’re working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting and identify all parties involved.”

Community on Edge

The shooting has left residents in the area shaken. The Donnelly Avenue corridor is a well-traveled section of southwest Atlanta, and news of the incident has sparked renewed concerns over public safety in the community. While the motive remains unclear, neighbors and store patrons expressed frustration at another violent incident disrupting their neighborhood.

“It’s scary,” said one witness who asked not to be named. “You can’t even go to the store without worrying about something happening. We need answers.”

Public Help Requested

As the investigation continues, the Atlanta Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual around 10:30 p.m. near Donnelly Avenue to reach out. Information, no matter how small, could be crucial to solving the case.

Those with tips can contact the Atlanta Police Department directly or leave anonymous information with Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may be eligible for a reward.

Ongoing Concern

As of Monday morning, both victims remain hospitalized, with one still in critical condition. Their names have not yet been released pending family notification and privacy considerations.

Police will provide additional updates as more details become available. In the meantime, residents and business owners in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.

This incident adds to a growing list of gun-related violence in Atlanta neighborhoods, prompting continued calls from city leaders and residents alike for solutions that address both crime and its root causes.
