Two Montgomery Men Fatally Shot in Separate Weekend Incidents, Police Seek Public’s Help

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Montgomery Police Department is investigating two separate shootings that occurred over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of two Montgomery residents, identified as 20-year-old Javon Holmes and 28-year-old Desanco Smith.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Mill Street. Upon arrival, officers found Javon Holmes, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

In a separate incident, early Sunday, July 20, 2025, at around 1:40 a.m., police and fire medics were dispatched to the 3200 block of Meadow Lane following reports of a shooting. There, they located Desanco Smith, who had suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Montgomery Police Department has not released additional details regarding the circumstances or motives behind either shooting, and no suspects have been identified or arrests made as of July 23, 2025. Both cases remain under active investigation.
