It is with profound sorrow that the community of Wagener, South Carolina, mourns the untimely passing of Cheryl Haynes, a vibrant 25-year-old whose life was tragically cut short on Thursday, May 15, 2025, following a fatal accident involving her electric bicycle.
Born and raised in Wagener, Cheryl was a beacon of light and positivity. Her infectious smile and compassionate nature left an indelible mark on everyone she met. A graduate of Wagener-Salley High School, she was known for her academic excellence and active participation in community service projects. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a degree in nursing, aiming to make a difference in people’s lives.
Cheryl’s love for the outdoors was evident in her daily routines. She often took to the scenic routes of Wagener on her electric bicycle, embracing the tranquility and beauty of nature. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life were truly inspiring.
Beyond her personal pursuits, Cheryl was deeply involved in community initiatives. She volunteered at local shelters, participated in town clean-up drives, and was an active member of the Wagener Community Church. Her dedication to service and her unwavering faith made her a cherished member of the community.
Cheryl is survived by her loving parents, Mark and Linda Haynes; her younger brother, Jason Haynes; and her grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Thompson. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will miss her dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be held at the Wagener Community Church on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Cheryl to attend and share in honoring her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the Haynes family requests that donations be made to the Wagener Community Outreach Program, an organization Cheryl passionately supported.
