Walker County High School Teacher John Millican III Passes After House Fire
The tight-knit community of LaFayette High School and the surrounding region of Walker County, Georgia, is reeling with grief following the passing of beloved teacher and coach John Millican III. Early Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the Millican family home on Ridgewood Circle, prompting a swift response from local fire crews.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames engulfing the front of the residence. Although Millican’s wife and two young children, ages 3 and 8, had already escaped the home with serious injuries, John Millican remained inside. He was discovered unconscious by the rescue team in a back bedroom, then transported to a hospital where he later passed away.
Millican had served as a dedicated special-education teacher and football and track coach at LaFayette High School, known for his passion for mentoring students both on the field and in the classroom.
