BATON ROUGE, LA — Authorities have arrested 19-year-old Amyri Ross in connection to a fatal shooting at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Baton Rouge on April 28, 2025, which claimed the life of 21-year-old Daylon Anthony. Ross faces charges of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder for allegedly supplying the firearm used in the attack and aiding the shooter’s escape.
The incident unfolded late Monday night at the Amazon facility located at 9001 Cortana Place, the site of the former Cortana Mall. According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, an argument between 18-year-old Carlgene Nash, an Amazon employee, and Daylon Anthony, a former employee, escalated into a physical altercation outside the main entrance. Video evidence captured by a bystander shows Anthony, dressed in black, approaching Nash, who was wearing an Amazon vest, before rushing inside the facility. Nash followed and fired four gunshots, fatally wounding Anthony, who died at the scene.
Investigators allege that Amyri Ross provided Nash with the firearm used in the shooting. Following the incident, Ross reportedly drove Nash away from the scene, facilitating his escape from law enforcement. Authorities noted that Ross did not attempt to render aid to Anthony or contact emergency services, actions that have intensified the scrutiny surrounding her involvement.
Carlgene Nash turned himself in to police on April 30, 2025, and was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Ross was later identified as a suspect through the ongoing investigation and arrested for her role in supplying the gun and aiding Nash’s flight. Her charges reflect her alleged complicity in the tragic event.
The shooting prompted an immediate evacuation of the Amazon Fulfillment Center, disrupting operations and raising concerns about workplace safety. The facility employs one East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputy as a visible deterrent during certain times, particularly during breaks when 200-300 employees congregate outside. His mother, speaking to local media, expressed profound grief, stating, “I felt like my soul had been taken.” A candlelight vigil was held to honor Anthony, as the community mourns his loss and supports his family.
