What Happened

For three quarters, Los Angeles looked in complete control. The Clippers led 33-22 after the first quarter, reached a lead of as many as 16 points, and took a 63-52 advantage into halftime. They won the third quarter 28-26 to lead 91-78 entering the fourth, and a comfortable home win looked certain.

The fourth quarter changed everything. Toronto shot 61.9 percent from the floor, forced six Clippers turnovers and held Los Angeles to 30 percent shooting. An 8-0 run cut the gap to 105-101 with 5:13 left after two Quickley free throws. Los Angeles moved back ahead 109-103, but another 8-0 Toronto run gave the visitors their first lead of the night, 111-109, on a Barnes jumper with 2:08 remaining.

Quickley sealed the win from the line, making a free throw for a 119-115 lead with 37.4 seconds left after a foul first called against him was overturned on replay and called against the Clippers' Max Strus. Toronto closed out a 125-118 victory, with quarter scores of 22-33, 30-30, 26-28 and 47-27.

Background and Context

The game had been circled since the schedule was released, because it was Toronto's first visit to Los Angeles to face the Clippers since Kawhi Leonard left the Clippers for the Raptors. Fans reportedly lined up three hours before tip-off to greet their former star. In the end the reunion never happened on court, because Leonard was out with a left knee injury.

Both teams were playing the second night of a back-to-back. The Clippers had lost 124-112 at Golden State on Sunday, while the Raptors had fallen 131-125 at the Los Angeles Lakers the previous night. Toronto improved to 4-3, including 2-3 without Leonard, and moved to 1-1 on a four-game road trip that continues in Denver. The Clippers fell to 1-6, with six straight defeats since beating Sacramento in their opener on October 21.

Toronto's late scoring was no one-off. The Raptors had scored 43 fourth-quarter points against the Lakers the night before, then produced 47 against the Clippers and this time turned the burst into a win.

Raptors Clippers: How Toronto Won the Fourth Quarter

Barnes scored 15 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Quickley added 14, a two-man burst that carried Toronto through its decisive runs. Collin Murray-Boyles supported them with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Barrett, who finished with 26 points, six rebounds and three assists, tied the game with a twisting lay-up before Barnes put Toronto ahead for good.

Quickley's efficiency stood out: 27 points on 8-of-13 shooting, with 10 of 11 free throws, in just under 38 minutes. For Los Angeles, Sanders scored his career-high 26 on 8-of-17 shooting with five three-pointers, and Isaiah Jackson added 19 points off the bench in his first reserve appearance of the season. Darius Garland had 16 points and eight assists but committed seven of the Clippers' 15 turnovers. Kris Dunn, Brook Lopez and Gradey Dick each scored 12 points, and Strus, on his Clippers debut after a foot injury, scored 11 points in 23 minutes.

Reactions and What It Means

Toronto, at 4-3, has now shown it can win late on the road even without Leonard and Poeltl. That resilience matters on a long trip, because the Raptors do not need a perfect start to finish strongly. Their 43- and 47-point fourth quarters on consecutive nights suggest a closing group that trusts Barnes, Barrett and Quickley when games tighten.

For Los Angeles, six straight defeats and a blown 14-point fourth-quarter lead at home now look like a pattern. The Clippers led by 16 points and still led by 13 entering the fourth, yet lost the final period by 20. Sanders' career night and Jackson's bench scoring show scoring options exist, but steadier ball security and late-game execution are now urgent needs.

Why It Matters

Early-season games rarely decide a season, but they reveal character. Toronto trailed for almost the entire game, was written off entering the fourth quarter, and still won by seven points on the road. Wins like that build belief, especially for a team adjusting to nights without its biggest name.

For the Clippers, a 1-6 record after an opening win is a difficult hole in a competitive Western Conference. Losing a game they led by 16 at home will sting more than most defeats in the streak, and opponents now have a clear blueprint for how Toronto broke them down late.

What Happens Next

Toronto continues its road trip in Denver, looking to build on the comeback and improve on 4-3. The key questions remain Leonard's knee and Poeltl's availability, because both absences change how Toronto plays at both ends.

Los Angeles must regroup quickly to end its six-game slide. Sanders' career-high night and Strus' return offer encouragement, but the next outing becomes a test of nerve as much as talent: can the Clippers protect a lead, protect the basketball, and close a game when the pressure rises?
