The New Orleans Pelicans beat the Utah Jazz 120-113 on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, extending their winning streak to four games after an 0-4 start. The win lifted New Orleans to 4-4 and avenged a 120-119 loss to Utah in Salt Lake City on October 23, when Utah won on late free throws.

Two days earlier, New Orleans had beaten Memphis 135-134 in overtime, ending the Grizzlies' unbeaten start. Wednesday's win made it four in a row. Utah, by contrast, fell to 1-7 with a sixth straight defeat.

What Happened

New Orleans protected its home floor and closed out a game it had once lost by a single point on the road. The seven-point margin suggested control, but Utah stayed within reach and forced the Pelicans to earn the result.

The revenge element was central. On October 23, New Orleans lost 120-119 at Utah on late free throws. On Wednesday, the rematch was in New Orleans, and the Pelicans made sure the outcome was different. Following a road overtime win with a composed home performance also showed consistency: teams that win only dramatic one-offs do not win four in a row.

Background: From 0-4 to 4-4

An 0-4 start can unsettle any dressing room. The Pelicans have answered it with four straight wins, and the speed of the turnaround is striking: a winless team is now a .500 team, and the conversation around the club has shifted from what is wrong to what is working.

Monday's 135-134 overtime win at Memphis ended the Grizzlies' six-game winning start, which matched a franchise record. New Orleans had already won twice before that trip, so Memphis made it three in a row and Utah made it four. Utah, meanwhile, has not won since beating New Orleans on October 23. Monday's 119-97 loss at San Antonio was its fifth straight defeat before Wednesday made it six.

Injuries have hurt Utah. Jaren Jackson Jr., central to the October win with 24 points and 10 rebounds, is out with a torn MCL in his right knee. Losing a player of that influence changes a team at both ends of the floor and made Wednesday harder for a side already short of confidence.

Pelicans Beat Jazz 120-113: A Turnaround Taking Shape in New Orleans

Pelicans beat Jazz 120-113 is the simple headline, but the numbers around it give it weight. A 4-4 record after an 0-4 start is not a title claim. It is, however, a meaningful marker: a team can stop a slide, learn from a narrow defeat, and change the feel of a season before November is halfway through.

Home form is often where turnarounds are built. Smoothie King Center gave New Orleans the setting to settle the October score, and holding off Utah to protect a seven-point margin, after losing by one point on the road to the same opponent, suggests growing composure. For Utah, the task is now clear: find a win, any win, to break the sequence and restore belief.

Reactions and Quotes

The sourced reports for this game carried no direct post-game quotations from players or coaches, so this article does not invent any. The reaction written into the results is clear enough: a home crowd watching its team reach 4-4, a Pelicans side on four straight wins after starting 0-4, and a Jazz team on six straight defeats. That contrast is the human story behind the standings, and it does not settle either season — it rebalances the head-to-head at one win each, with New Orleans holding the more encouraging recent form.

Why It Matters

An 0-4 start followed by four straight wins suggests adaptation. Teams that stay bad usually keep losing the same kinds of games. Teams that win four in a row have usually fixed something: composure late in games, the ability to protect a lead, or belief that the next game is winnable. New Orleans has shown those qualities in a short, sharp run.

For Utah, a 1-7 start plus the loss of Jackson Jr. means development and results must be balanced carefully. Long losing runs test morale and can harden into habit. The Jazz's next win will matter disproportionately, as the first evidence that the slide has stopped. More broadly, the swing in two weeks — New Orleans from winless to .500, Utah from a win over the Pelicans to 1-7 — shows how quickly early standings can move.

What Happens Next

New Orleans will try to extend the streak. A fifth straight win would take the Pelicans above .500 for the first time this season and turn a recovery into a statement. The task is to protect momentum and avoid complacency after a run of wins.

Utah must end a six-game losing run with or without Jackson Jr., leaning on the players available and turning competitive stretches into a full victory. The longer the run continues, the harder that becomes, which is why the next game matters so much for the Jazz.
