What Happened

Jen Affleck filed the divorce petition on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in the Fourth Judicial District Court in Provo, Utah County. Alongside the petition she submitted a proposed parenting plan, though its details have not been made public. The filing itself gives no reason for the divorce and sets out no custody arrangements, leaving the most personal questions about the split unanswered for now.

The news broke a day later. A source told PEOPLE on Wednesday, November 4, that Zac is "doing okay" and that the pair are "staying focused on preparing for the baby and supporting their kids". It was the first word from either side since the filing. Jen is one of the faces of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives", the Hulu reality series, and its spinoff "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County", starring Jen, premieres on Hulu on November 12 — nine days after she filed to end her marriage.

Background: Seven Years, Three Children and a Reality-TV Rise

Jen and Zac Affleck met in 2018 on Mutual, the dating app built for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and married in June 2019. Three children followed in quick succession: daughter Nora, now 5, son Luca, now 3, and daughter Penelope, now 15 months old. In June 2026 Jen announced she was pregnant again, with the couple's fourth child.

For much of that time, their marriage unfolded in public. "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" follows a group of Mormon mothers navigating faith, friendship, marriage and motherhood in Utah, and Jen quickly became one of its most recognisable cast members. Viewers came to know the Afflecks as young, devout parents building a life together.

The Jen Affleck Divorce Filing: What the Court Papers Say

What the court papers do say is straightforward. Jen Affleck, 27, petitioned for divorce from Zac Affleck, 30, on November 3, 2026, after seven years of marriage, in the Fourth Judicial District Court in Provo. A proposed parenting plan was submitted with the petition, but its contents have not been disclosed. What the papers do not say is just as important: no reason for the divorce is given, no custody terms have been made public, and no financial details have emerged.

In Utah, the detailed negotiations over children, property and support typically follow behind closed doors. The silence leaves the central question unanswered: why, after seven years and with a fourth child on the way, has the marriage ended? Neither Jen nor Zac has offered an explanation, and the filing offers none.

Reactions and Quotes

The only comment from either side so far came through a source who spoke to PEOPLE on Wednesday, November 4, the day after the filing. The source said Zac is "doing okay" and that the pair are "staying focused on preparing for the baby and supporting their kids". The message was clear: the children come first.

Beyond that, there has been silence. Neither Jen nor Zac has spoken publicly about the filing, and no public statement from either of them has been reported. That restraint is notable in a cast known for sharing its life on camera, and it suggests that, for now at least, the couple intend to handle the divorce away from the spotlight — even as the spotlight follows them.

Why It Matters

The Jen Affleck divorce matters for three reasons. First, it is a human story: a 27-year-old mother of three, pregnant with a fourth child, ending a seven-year marriage. It means a family being rearranged at a vulnerable moment.

Second, it is a television story. "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" is built on the real lives of its cast, and Jen Affleck is one of its central figures. A divorce filed nine days before her spinoff premieres changes how that show will be watched: every scene of married life in "Orange County" will now be viewed through the knowledge that the marriage was ending. Third, it reframes a marriage the public watched unfold: the Afflecks met, married and raised their children in front of the cameras.

What Happens Next

The legal process now takes its course. The divorce case will proceed in the Fourth Judicial District Court in Provo, where the parenting plan Jen submitted will be considered alongside custody, support and property questions. No hearing dates have been made public, With four children, one unborn, the court's focus will be firmly on arrangements for the family.

The television calendar, meanwhile, does not wait. "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County" premieres on Hulu on November 12, 2026, nine days after the filing. How the show handles it will be closely watched. Both parents, the source said, are focused on preparing for the baby's arrival.
