Right-wing activist Laura Loomer took more than $60,000 in undisclosed payments to publish political posts on X, according to a Washington Post report published on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The report says bank records and four people familiar with the arrangements show the Laura Loomer payments came from private clients who paid her to post political messages on her account, which has about 1.9 million followers, without telling her audience the posts were paid for. Loomer denies the claim, saying she was paid for research work, not for posts.

What Happened

The Washington Post published its report on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 11:47 a.m. EST, written by Drew Harwell and Scott Nover. It said Loomer, a prominent right-wing activist and close ally of President Donald Trump, accepted payments from private clients to publish political posts on X without disclosing them to her followers. Four people familiar with the arrangements spoke to the paper, and two said they had paid Loomer directly to post political messages.

The paper said it reviewed bank transaction emails and a wire transfer statement showing four payments totalling more than $60,000 since May 2025. The documents do not say what the payments were for, but two people familiar with the arrangements told the paper the money covered political posts.

Background: Who Laura Loomer Is and Why Her Posts Matter

Loomer rose to prominence as a provocative right-wing activist and self-described investigative journalist, building an audience of about 1.9 million followers on X. She is known for her uncompromising support for President Donald Trump and her attacks on his opponents, and she has become a familiar figure in the president's orbit.

That influence is what makes the allegations significant. Readers generally assume a political post reflects the poster's own views, and disclosure rules exist to tell the audience when someone else is behind a message. The Federal Trade Commission requires influencers to disclose paid endorsements, and political advertising rules demand transparency about who pays for political messages.

Laura Loomer Payments: What the Bank Records Show

The financial records are the heart of the Post's reporting. Bank transaction emails and a wire transfer statement it reviewed show four payments totalling more than $60,000 to Loomer and to King Breaker Media, a Florida-based company registered in her name, since May 2025. The payments came from private clients, who were not identified.

The records do not, by themselves, prove what the money was for. The documents do not specify the purpose of the payments. The paper's account rests on the people familiar with the arrangements, two of whom said they paid Loomer directly to post political messages. Bruesewitz confirmed to the Post that he had paid Loomer for posts throughout 2025, and later wrote on X: "I've paid you for tweets before. I haven't for at least a year though."

Reactions: Loomer's Denial and Bruesewitz's Account

Loomer denies that she was paid to post on X. She told the Post that Bruesewitz paid her to make a one-page research document and distribute it, not to write posts for money. "I certainly don't charge $5,000 for a tweet," she said. "I'm not some influencer that makes money from tweeting." She added: "My business is public affairs and opposition research."

Bruesewitz has not backed away from his account. He first raised the allegations on X on Thursday, confirmed to the Post that he had paid Loomer for posts throughout 2025, and said the practice had gone too far, calling for clearer disclosure rules. The disagreement leaves the central question unresolved: whether the more than $60,000 was payment for posts or for research.

Why It Matters

The story matters because of the scale of Loomer's audience and her closeness to the president. With about 1.9 million followers, her posts reach an audience larger than many newspapers. If some of those posts were paid for by unnamed clients, her followers were reading messages shaped by people they could not see.

It also matters because paid political posting is a growing and largely unregulated part of American politics. Disclosure rules exist to keep the line between genuine opinion and paid promotion visible, and the Loomer report is a reminder of how rarely they are enforced on social media.

What Happens Next

The next step is likely to be more public argument rather than any formal action. Loomer has denied the claim and is expected to keep pushing back, and Bruesewitz has said he wants clearer disclosure rules. The Post's report may prompt other outlets to look into the same practice.

Whether regulators take an interest remains to be seen. The Federal Trade Commission requires disclosure of paid endorsements, and the Federal Election Commission polices paid political communications, but enforcement on social media has been limited. For now, the story is a public dispute between two figures in Trump's orbit, played out on the same platform where the posts appeared.
